| Abstract | ||
| Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the radiographic effect of two abutment materials with two different types of superstructure metal free restoration on the platform switched implant. Subjects and Methods: Twenty human patients with missing maxillary central incisor were selected for implant placement and divided randomly into two groups according to abutment type titanium abutment and PEEK abutment, (n= 10 in each) Each group was subdivided into two subgroubs according to superstructure crown (PEEK and VITA ENAMIC crown, n=5 in each) .All groups were evaluated radiographically. Preapical radiographs were taken by parlling technique at base line, 3, 6 and 12 months . Results: The mean value of marginal bone level were determined that PEEK PEEK group showed a lower Mean marginal bone loss , followed by PEEK VIT , followed by Ti PEEK, Ti VIT was the highest(0.64 ± 0.03, 0.67 ± 0.02, 0.96 ± 0.04, 1.01 ± 0.05) respectively. Regarding with each other PEEK PEEK and PEEK VIT groups were significantly lower than Ti VIT group. Conclusion: PEEK abutment is considered a better alternative to titanium abutment in relation to hard tissue response in addition to has a good role in occlusal force distribution, as marginal bone loss was reduced when use PEEK abutment than titanium abutment regardless the type of suberstructure crown. | ||
