| Abstract | ||
| By studying some productivity indicators for the field study sample of the olive crop in Siwa Oasis during the agricultural season 2020, it became clear that the average total cost was about 6047.3 pounds/year, 6987.7 pounds/year 7416.9 pounds/year for both category 1, 2 and 3 respectively, while average total income was about 11,120 pounds/year, 11,750 pounds/year, 1 2,150 pounds/year for both the first, second and third category, the average net return was about 5,072.7 pounds/year, 4,762.3 pounds/year, 4,733.1 pounds/year for both the first category, the second, third, respectively, and the profitability of the invested pound was about 0.8, 0.7, 0.6 pounds/year for both category I, second, and third, respectively. The research found that the most important problems affecting the productivity of the olive crop in The Oasis of Siwa are as follows: The wages of trained and skilled workers are high and scarce, The absence of an agricultural guide role, Infection with pests, insects, fungal diseases, and weed infestation, The high cost of automated work and the high prices of fertilizers and pesticides, Small areas cultivated with olive crops and low productivity per feddan, High ground water level and poor drainage, High transportation costs to the places of sale or to the final consumer, Lack of experience in pruning and thinning procedures. Therefore, it is recommended to research the following: 1- Training of workers on various agricultural operations, pruning and thinning procedures. 2- There must be a role for a trained agricultural guide, and this will only be done through cooperative societies. 3- Developing a plan to combat diseases of olive trees that negatively affect the productivity of olive crops. 4- Expansion in the cultivation of olive trees. 5- Paying attention to agricultural drainage. 6- The issuance of legislation to support olive producers and processors during the early years of cultivation and production to encourage the demand for olive cultivation. | ||
