| Abstract | ||
| Since the dawn of time the human need appeared to compensate his natural lighting needs with artificial lighting, to be able to live in caves that the sun's rays cannot penetrate, so he developed lighting, to achieve visual comfort in places that do not reach natural light. with human activities evolution over time, the interior lighting importance has increased, functionally, aesthetically, or psychologically, as the lighting of the interior spaces relied on two types of lighting natural and industrial lighting, which is still in continuous development; to increase economic efficiency and reduce environmental impact. The research aims to emphasize the role of artificial lighting in the residential interior spaces to highlight the functional and psychological role and emphasize the aesthetic values in the residential spaces, and to reach a scientific approach based on the criteria of effective lighting design within the residential space. While the research problem is determined by the poor lighting distribution in some modern residential spaces, which causes visual and psychological exhaustion or inconvenience, in a way that is not compatible with the function and aesthetics of the interior residential space. The importance of the research is to identify the psychological, functional, and aesthetic impact of industrial lighting to avoid common mistakes in lighting design in residential interior spaces. Finally, the research concludes that the residential lighting design requires defining the function of each space and the performed activities in that space, to choose the convenient lighting types based on visual comfort, functional, psychological, and aesthetic aspects. | ||
