| Abstract | ||
| Schizothorax plagiostomus is an important food and game fish found in the mountainous areas of Pakistan. Unfortunately in Pakistan, its population is vulnerable to distinction. Hence, the current study was conducted to provide informative knowledge with respect to the threatened species. Morphometric studies play important role in sustainable fishery management. In this work, various external morphometric parameters were analyzed for 85 specimens of Schizothorax plagiostomus collected from Suleman Mountain Range, Dera Ghazi Khan Region, Pakistan. All weight-length and length-length relationships demonstrated significant correlation coefficient values following linear regression. However, the condition factor showed non-significant relation with total length and wet body weight (P > 0.05). Value of slope ‘b’ indicated an isometric growth pattern for the majority of parameters. Though the data recorded would aid in fisheries and aquaculture management, further research is recommended with respect to the habitats, gender, and size groups of the species under study. | ||
