| Abstract | ||
| This study aimed to know the extent of awareness among faculty members and their assistants at South Valley University in Qena about intellectual property rights and the role played by the university in order to spread the culture of intellectual property. The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach, and the questionnaire as a tool for data collection to obtain a feature that reflects the actual reality of the study sample’s level of awareness of intellectual property rights, and this sample consisted of 320 faculty members and their assistants in 21 colleges. The study reached a number of results, the most important of which are: that the faculty members and their assistants in the study sample have knowledge of intellectual property rights in the traditional environment by 83.4%. However, there is still confusion among them in the concepts related to intellectual property rights, as represented by 52.1% - of those who have knowledge of intellectual property rights in the traditional environment - of the faculty members and their assistants the study sample has knowledge of intellectual property rights in the digital environment. The study recommends the need for the university to intensify its efforts in spreading the culture of intellectual property within the university, and the need for an independent course to be taught to undergraduate and postgraduate students on intellectual property. | ||
