| Abstract | ||
| Cisplatin is a chemotherapeutic drug used to treat cancer patients. The main secondary effect results from Cisplatin treatment is nephrotoxicity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the possible therapeutic effect of cantaloupe, grape, and pumpkin seeds on Cisplatin induced nephrotoxicity in rats. Materials and Methods: forty two rats were randomly assigned (7/group). G1, (-ve) control, G2, (+ve) control rats were injected with Cisplatin (6 mg/kg body weight) for one time, G3,4,5,6 rats injected and were received 7.5% of (cantaloupe, grape, and pumpkin seeds) or a mixture of all, respectively. Blood samples were collected, and the renal tissues of the rats were removed. Biological analyses were calculated. Results: injected Cisplatin in rats increased levels of plasma cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), Very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (VLDL), (LDL), and decrease high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and caused abnormal renal functions. For the treated groups, body weight gain (BWG), food intake (FI), and feed efficiency ratio (FER) and also histological changes improved for seeds diets groups.
