| Abstract | ||
| Abstract: This review article aims to optimize the use of microneedling in vitiligo as a line of treatment alone or with other topical drugs for best results. Vitiligo is an acquired disease characterized by well-defined milky-white macules and patches in the skin secondary to loss of functioning melanocytes. It is the most common depigmentation disorder. It can begin at any age, but in majority of cases begins between the age of 20 and 30years. Microneedling, a percutaneous collagen induction therapy, is a new treatment option in dermatology. The rational for Microneedling is in improved drug penetration through stratum corneum, which potentiates its activity. Microneedling induces processes like wound healing response that produce cytokines and growth factors beneficial for repigmentation. This review article aims to optimize the use of microneedling in vitiligo as a line of treatment which was used with other topical drugs for best management and the most satisfactory outcomes. | ||
