| Abstract | ||
| Purpose: The aim of this study was a comparative effect of using rigid and resilient telescopic attachments in two implant tissue supported mandibular overdenture on the patients’ satisfaction and biting force. Material and methods: Twelve edentulous patients (6 males, 6 females) who were unsatisfied with the retention and stability of their existing mandibular denture were sorted into two equal groups at random. An implant tissue supported mandibular overdenture with a rigid telescopic attachment was given to Group I and an implant tissue supported mandibular overdenture with a resilient telescopic attachment was given to Group II. Patients’ satisfaction and biting force were measured at 3 months after over denture pickup. Results: The obtained data revealed that the parameters of VAS for group II were higher for Functional complain about denture, Overall masticating ability, Masticating ability for different types of food and Overall satisfaction than those treated with Mandibular over denture by rigid telescopic attachment (group I) However, the ratings for the same group were lower for Effect on mental and daily life as compared with the group I , but the higher and lesser readings were insignificant between both groups as (P value > 0.05). Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study caused by small patient sample and short evaluation period. The current study .concluded that both rigid and resilient telescopic mandibular overdentures achieve great patients’ .satisfaction and a proper biting. Force. | ||
