| Abstract | ||
| The present work was carried out to study the effect of low caloric diet supplemented with Fennel seeds 5 gm, Balck cumin seeds 5 gm and its mixture (2.5 gm Fennel+ 2.5 gm Black cumin) on obese females by using low caloric diet with 1000 kcal, (group 1) without supplementation, (group 2) supplemented with 5 gm black cumin seeds, (group 3) supplemented with 5 gm fennel seeds, (group 4) supplemented with 5 g mix balck cumin seeds and fennel seeds. All supplementation mixed with 1 cup of light yoghurt in dinner meal. The study performed in 4 weeks. Anthropometric measurements and Serum levels of Triglyceride, cholesterol, LDL and HDL were measured pre & post the study. Low caloric diet supplemented with Black cumin and mixture recorded significant decreasing values in BMI when compared to that of the non-supplemented cases. Cases supplemented with Fennel recorded insignificant increasing value in BMI decreasing percentage. Total cholesterol decreased significantly in cases of groups (2 & 4), while group 3 decreased insignificantly compared to group 1. HDL levels increased significantly in groups 2 & 4 compared to group 1. Previous results showed that best results in body weight reduction including (weight, BMI, WC, AC, TSF and AMC) were in group (2) which received black cumin seeds, followed by group (4) which received mix from (black cumin seeds and fennel seeds), followed by group (3) which received fennel seeds, followed by group (1) without supplemented seeds.
