| Abstract | ||
| In this paper we are going to present a psychological analysis of the language of the Egyptian novel The Mirage, by Naguib Mahfuz, based on the Principle of Relevance of Sperber and Wilson (1986-1995). In it, we are going to shed light, on the one hand, on the acts that contain contradictions and on the other hand, on the memories that are irrelevant to the context. The study aims to highlight the mechanisms used by the author that allow the scope of verbal relevance despite how complicated it is. In the language of this novel, acts encrypted by contradictions and incoherence of memories abound, due to its psychological nature. that is why it is considered an appropriate text for this analysis of verbal relevance, which will be limited to acts that contain contradictions and memories.
