| Historians called on the specific historical period from 297 AD to 641 AD era " Late Antique and early Byzantine Period in Egypt" This period specific historical frame featured two events are important, the first administrative reforms of Diocletian, which has been implemented in 297 AD, Which it was developed specifically by the end of the special status of Egypt as a state of the private property of the emperors, in the sense that Egypt was no longer under the direct rule of the Emperor, it became equally in terms of administrative status with the rest of the states of the Eastern Empire, Romania. The second event is the Islamic conquest of Egypt, Byzantine forts were established in Sinai in that period including the monastery and Fort of Al-Wady in Al-Wady village in Tur Sinai, it was created a Roman fortress was used fortified convent in the reign of the Emperor Justinian in the sixth century AD. compatible with Justinian military plan for the establishment of forts to protect the borders of the Eastern Empire against invasions by the Persians, as re-use it as one of the Al-Tur forts in the Fatimid era as stated in the safety covenants safety of the Muslims caliphs saved in Saint Catherine's Monastery also it was found objects from the Fatimid era. One of these forts also Farma Fortress 35 km east of the city of Qantara Sharq, it knew in Greek Beloziom and in Coptic Peremoun called Al-Farama in the Islamic period, also mentioned Al-Farma or Al-Farama hill, The fortified town and its name is always mentioned in the wars of the Roman era and in the Islamic conquest of Egypt, Emperor Justinian built monastery of Mount Sinai in the sixth century AD, which turned to the Monastery of St. Catherine in the ninth century Fortress and Monastery. And in order to keep on the eastern border of the empire of the Persian crawl during the rule of the Persian king Khosrow I (531-579 AD) he constructed a group of buildings to guard the lanes down Mount Sinai, These buildings have had a dual use Monasteries and forts, these were guarded by monks including the Monastery of St. Catherine,Justinian established a lighthouse on the island of Pharaoh to guide merchant ships in the Gulf of Aqaba to serve the Byzantine trade by Ayla, This lighthouse is located in downtown Fort was established in middle of the fort which was established on the southern hill in island of Pharaoh which was exploited by the Salah al-Din, while the establishment of his castle on the island in 567 E -1171 AD. Justinian was keen to liberate The Byzantine trade so as not to depend on Persian so he established direct contact with India through the Byzantine port on the Gulf of Aqaba, a port of Eilah (currently Aqaba) Therefore he established lighthouse for vessels on the island of Pharaoh which lies in front of Eilah, Byzantines had a large commercial activity in the sixth century AD, Excavations also revealed for the Roman fort and Byzantine wall in Tel Abu Mandur in Rosetta, the fort was built of burnt brick Created from several architectural units, and the Byzantine wall was built in The fifth-century AD, It is one of the fortifications which was held in Egypt in the second half of the fifth century or the beginning of the sixth century To face the dangers of the Persians, Alexandria includes, the Northern Tower, an error known the Northern Tower in marine gardens waterfalls, it is one of towers of the eastern Alexandria wall يطلق المؤرخون المحدثون على الفترة التاريخية المحددة من عام 297م إلى 641م عصرLate Antique and early Byzantine Period in Egypt وهذه الفترة محددة بإطار تاريخى متميز بحدثين هامين، الأول الإصلاحات الإدارية لدقلديانوس التى تم تنفيذها فى عام 297م وهى التى وضعت بالتحديد نهاية الوضع الخاص لمصر کولاية خاصة من ممتلکات الأباطرة، بمعنى أن مصر لم تعد تحت الحکم المباشر للإمبراطور بل أصبحت تتساوى من ناحية الوضع الإدارى مع باقى ولايات الإمبراطورية الرومانية الشرقية، والحدث الثانى الفتح الإسلامى لمصر، وقد أنشئت الحصون البيزنطية بسيناء فى تلک الفترة ومنها حصن ودير الوادى بقرية الوادى بطور سيناء وقد أنشئ کحصن رومانى أعيد استخدامه کدير محصّن فى عهد الإمبراطور جستنيان فى القرن السادس الميلادى متوافقًا مع خطة جستنيان الحربية لإنشاء حصون لحماية حدود الإمبراطورية الشرقية ضد غزوات الفرس کما أعيد استخدامه کأحد الحصون الطورية فى العصر الفاطمى کما ورد فى عهود الأمان من الخلفاء المسلمين المحفوظة بدير سانت کاترين کما عثر به على تحف منقولة هامة من العصر الفاطمى. ومن هذه الحصون أيضًا حصن الفرما 35کم شرق مدينة القنطرة شرق وعرفت باليونانية بيلوزيوم Pelousion وبالقبطية Peremoun وسميت بالفرما فى العصر الإسلامى ووردت الفرماء أو تل الفرما وکانت مدينة محصّنة ويذکر اسمها دائمًا فى الحروب التى دارت فى العصر الرومانى وعند الفتح الإسلامى لمصر، کما أنشأ جستنيان دير طور سيناء فى القرن السادس الميلادى والذى تحول اسمه لدير سانت کاترين فى القرن التاسع الميلادى کحصن، ولکى يحافظ على الحدود الشرقية للإمبراطورية من الزحف الفارسى أثناء حکم الملکک الفارسى کسرى الأول (531- 579م) قام بتشييد مجموعة من المبانى لحراسة الممرات أسفل جبل سيناء وهذه المبانى کان لها استخدام مزدوج کأديرة وحصون وکان يقوم بحراستها الرهبان ومنها دير سانت کاترين. وأنشأ جستنيان فنار بجزيرة فرعون لإرشاد السفن التجارية فى خليج العقبة لخدمة التجارة البيزنطية عن طريق أيلة، وهذا الفنار يقع بوسط حصن أنشئ على التل الجنوبى بجزيرة فرعون والذى استغله صلاح الدين حين إنشاء قلعته بالجزيرة عام 567هـ 1171م کتحصين جنوبى للقلعة، وقد حرص جستنيان على أن يحررالتجارة البيزنطية من اعتمادها على الفرس فأسس اتصال مباشر مع الهند عن طريق الميناء البيزنطى على خليج العقبة وهو ميناء أيلة (العقبة حاليًا) ولذلک أنشأ فنار للسفن بجزيرة فرعون المواجهة لأيلة، وکان للبيزنطيين نشاط تجارى کبير فى القرن السادس الميلادى. کما کشفت الحفائر عن حصن رومانى وسور بيزنطى بتل أبو مندور برشيد وبنى الحصن من الأجر مکون من عدة وحدات معمارية وسور بيزنطى يعود للقرن الخامس الميلادى وهو أحد التحصينات التى أقيمت فى مصر فى النصف الثانى من القرن الخامس أو بداية القرن السادس الميلاديين لمواجهة أخطار الفرس، وتضم الإسکندرية البرج الشمالى المعروف خطأ بالغربى بحدائق الشلالات البحرية وهو أحد أبراج سور الإسکندرية الشرقى. | ||
