| Abstract | ||
| Siwa archaeological area was submitted by the Egyptian Antiquities Organization to Egypt's Tentative List on 01/11/1994 to be considered for inclusion on the World Heritage List. Unfortunately, there isn't enough information about when the site should be up for nomination, and whether it will be presented as a mixed site or just as a Cultural Property. According to Egypt tentative list published on the World Heritage Centre official website (UNESCO World Heritage Centre, 1994), the area contains the two temples of Ammon as well as several archaeological sites and monuments. Regardless of their cultural significance, lots of those sites are being damaged or threatened due to natural or human factors or both of them. With the lack of a systematic management plan, some of these archaeological sites might be lost. In response to this issue, there is a need for a planning technique and methodology for the management and conservation of Siwa’s archaeological heritage sites. This study will focus on the Acropolis of Aghurmi, as the major archaeological site in the area, aiming to propose a suitable management framework. The methodology followed will critically review the site scope and speed of change, whether demonstrated in the various uses, its physical condition, or methods of understanding and valuing the past, it will also analyze the universal validity and reasonability of the management policy based on International Charters. The results will come up with the most appropriate managing model for such site. | ||
