Abstract
The main research results: 100 patients fitted with IUD's for one year at least were investigated by kymograph utero-tubal insufflation. Spasm of the utero-tubal and isthmic portion of the tube was demonstrated in all except four cases. It is concluded that functional incoordination of the standard tubuterine mechanism of ovular transport is the most plausible mode of action for IUDs.
