| Abstract | ||
| Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second most common cause of death due to cancer and is diagnosed in around half a million individuals each year across the globe. Primary and secondary liver diseases are increasingly being treated utilizing loco-regional minimally invasive interventional therapies as an effective alternative to surgery. Aim: to retrospectively estimate the accuracy of CT volumetry (By comparing the 2D with 3D volumetric CT index of liver tumors) as a more accurate tool for assessment of treatment response after TACE and RF at radiology department of Minia University Hospital. Basic procedures: Thirty patients whom were recruited from Minia UniversityHospital's , and whom had an interventional treatment for HCC with either standard TACE or RF participated in this retrospective cohort study. Inclusion criteria: Radiological and laboratory diagnosis of HCC. All patients were in BCLC class B and had Child-Pugh scores of A or B. Results: `There were a significant difference among Responders and Non-responders in our study, between 3D volumetric CT and 2D CT as regarding lesion response size in our study. Conclusion: 2D and 3D Volumetric CT varied significantly when assessing the treatment response of HCC following TACE or RF, with only moderate agreement among the two diagnostic modalities in identifying partial response (PR), stable disease (SD) & progressing disease (PD). | ||
