Abstract
The gabled wooden ceilings are considered the most famous types of wooden ceilings in Islamic architecture in Al-Andalus. The Andalusian carpenter relied on them to cover the halls and councils of the Alhambra palaces in Granada. This type of ceiling received special attention from the Andalusian carpenter during the dynasty of Banī Naṣr (635-897A.H/1237-1492A.D) in general, and inside the Alhambra palaces in particular. This study deals with the inductive and analytical approach the models of them inside Alhambra palaces. It also deals with the decorative elements and the types of wood used in making these ceilings, and their forming methods and decoration Techniques. The importance of this study is that it helps in extrapolating the development that occurred in this type of wooden ceilings inside the Alhambra palaces.
