| Abstract | ||
| The mean weight for normal pupils, those with functional heart murmur, those with congenital heart and those with organic rheumatic valvular disease is presented and discussed. The mean weight for cases with congenital heart was lower than other groups because more cases were observed in younger age groups since they drop school attendance with progress of age because limited physical and mental capacity. The mean weight for pupils with functional murmurs was low especially in rural areas reflecting the relation with general health and occurrence of these murmurs. Patients with mitral lesions were of lower mean weight than those with aortic. The latter were still with lower mean weight than with aortic and mitral lesions. Explanation was based on the affection of the mitral valve at a younger age than the aortic, then both valves in older groups. | ||
