| Abstract | ||
| The present study was aimed to investigate the effects of oxyfluorfen herbicide exposure on the histopathological changes in liver, kidney and gills of Oreochromis niloticus and the ameliorative effect of (5 g/kg) of curcumin and (5 g/kg) of garlic acid supplementation on the degree of two sublethal concentrations (0.3 and 0.6 ppm) of Oxyfluorfen for 2 and 4 weeks. Chronic exposure to oxyfluorfen revealed a marked histopathological examination of gills of exposed fish showed aneurysm and rupture in other lamellae, the ladder- like arrangement of the PC-BC system began to show collapses, curvatures of the secondary lamellae, the hyperplasia and hypertrophy. histopathological of liver of exposed fish showed proliferation, degeneration of hepatocytes, pyknosis, lymphocytic aggregation and melanomacrophages, hypertrophy of Küpffer cells, necrosis around the blood vessel and thickening in the wall of some blood vessels. histopathological of kidney of exposed fish showed hydropic degeneration and dissociation, edema, shrinkage, necrosis in the haemopoietic Tissue, proliferation and Melanomacrophages. However, fish fed diet supplemented with curcumin and garlic acid exhibited protective effect by minimizing the oxyfluorfen-induced toxicity, through measured values more or less like the control group fish. | ||
