| Abstract | ||
| The aim of the present study is to assess the prevalence of premenstrual symptoms and practices adopted by nursing students to relieve them and to test the effectiveness of nursing interventions on the relief of premenstrual symptoms. All students enrolled in the four academic years at the Faculty of Nursing in Alex. and High Institute of Nursing in Tanta were surveyed to find out the prevalence of PMS & the practices adopted by students to relieve Them. Then 100 students from each setting were divided equally into experimental and control groups. A questionnaire was designed to collect the necessary data about the students, the prevalence of PMS and practices adopted to relieve them. Also a specially designed tool was developed to evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing interventions to relieve those symptoms. The findings of this study revealed that the majority of the students in Tanta and Alex. were more likely to have various physical, psychological and behavioral Premenstrual symptoms. It was also revealed that the educational nursing interventions have proved to be most effective in relieving PMS and improving students practices during premenstrual period. | ||
