| Abstract | ||
| Background: The First-time mothers and their unborn babies rely heavily on skilled management of labour progression. Vaginal exams (VE) are the gold standard for gauging cervical dilation and foetal head position. The purpose of this research was to examine how useful transperineal ultrasonography (TPUS) is for tracking labour. Methods: Thirty-six first-time mothers were included in this prospective observational research. All of the women were at least 18 years old and carrying a single baby during 37 to 41 weeks' gestation. After doing a transvaginal ultrasound (TPUS), the doctor took notes on the mother's cervical dilatation, the foetal head descent, and the head position of the baby. The results of the VE were compared to these measures. The average age of the participants was determined to be 33 years and 7.4 months. The average body mass index was 27.31.3 kg/m2. The average gestational age was 39 weeks and 1 day. There was a favourable connection between the foetal head station as measured by VE and the Head-perineum distance as measured by US (p0.001). Women were more likely to comply with and be satisfied with TPUS (66.7% vs. 38.9% with VE, p 0.001) than males were with VE. | ||
