| Background; Orthopedic physicians worldwide frequently perform anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), a regularly executed surgical surgery. The Anterolateral ligament (ALL) has shifted attention to the primary mechanism that restricts the rotational instability of the knee after an ACL injury. Aim and Objectives; In order to evaluate and contrast the functional outcomes of patients diagnosed with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in knees that undergo extremely demanding activities, we conducted a study comparing the effectiveness of arthroscopic isolated ACL reconstruction (ACLR) versus with lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET). Patients and Methods; This study was a prospective randomized controlled experiment conducted at Minya University Hospital between January 2019 and March 2023. It included a total of 60 patients who presented with ACL injury. Results; No statistically significant differences were seen between the studied groups in terms of age and sex. Athletic Endeavor, ASA Physical state, injury mechanism, affected side, dominant side, time elapsed from injury, period of follow-up. The Lachman and pivot shift tests were conducted before surgery and at various intervals of 3, 6, 12, 24, and 36 months after surgery. The range of motion (ROM) was measured both before and after the operation. The Lysholm score was assessed at different follow-up intervals, and the IKDC score and complications were also evaluated. Conclusion: The combination of ACL reconstruction with lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) was found to be both safe and successful in treating ACL injuries in knees that are subjected to high demands. | ||
