| Abstract | ||
| تقع أطلال هذه المدينة التي تعرف اليوم باسم ( مسکنة ) على بعد 1کم ونصف من ضفة الفرات الغربية على الطريق العام بين حلب – دير الزور وبحکم هذا الموقع عند منعطف الفرات نحو الشرق أصبحت ملتقى القوافل القادمة من الشرق والغرب , وأدت هذه المدينة دوراً حضارياً واضحاً في الألفين الثالث والثاني ق.م من خلال ذکرها في النصوص المسمارية المکتشفة في ايبلا وابانت التنقيبات التي جرت في المدينة بإشراف المعهد الفرنسي إبتداءاً من عام 1929 عن جملة من الاکتشافات الآثارية المهمة التي أعطت للمدينة أهمية حضارية متميزة ومنها دورا سکنية ومعابد , ولعل من أهم تلک الاکتشافات المکتبة التي عثر عليها في احد معابد المدينة وهي تضم نصوصاً دينية کتبت بلغات عدة منها السومرية والأکدية والحورية , کم أبانت التنقيبات الآثارية على إن في المدينة تأثيرات حضارية حثية وعراقية قديمة في مجال العمارة والطقوس الدينية . The remains of this town, known these days as 'Meskana', is 1,5 kilo metres from the western bank of Euphrates on the road between Aleppo and Dair el-Zour. Because of its site on the turning of the Euphrates, the town became the rendezvous or meeting place of the caravans from east and west. It played a clear and important civilizational role in the third and second millenniums BC. This role had been mentioned in the cuneiform texts discovered in Ibilla. The excavations carried out in the town of Meskana under the supervision of the French Institute, which had been initiated in 1929 AD, had revealed many important archaeological discoveries. The discoveries had ascribed the town a distinguished civilizational significance. Among these discoveries were some residential houses and temples, but the most important discovery was the library which had been discovered in one of the temples. The library contained religious texts written in several languages among which the Sumerian, the Akkadian and the Hurri. The excavations had also revealed the Hetthaei and ancient Iraqi effects in architecture and religious rituals. | ||
