| Abstract | ||
| Aim of the study was to analyze the factors for discontinuation of IUD utilization. Descriptive research: was designed in carrying out this study and apurposive sample of 90 women who had used an IUD and requested its removal were recruited for this study. Tools: an interview questionnaire sheet was designed and implemented another tool, assess women attitude toward IUD discontinuation. Results of the present study revealed that the desire for conception was the most common reason, with the highest percentage followed by heavy bleeding ,spotting and PID. In addition,other reasons for IUD withdrawal were social problems. Statistical significant :relation was found between reasons of discontinuation and women’s age, education, number of living children, the previous use of IUD and the duration of the current IUD. Conclusion: medical and social problems constitute the main reasons for discontinuation of IUDs. Recommendation: Proper counseling are mandatory during the initial and return visits as well as after the removal of the IUD. | ||
