Abstract
يتناول هذا البحث النظم السياسية التي طرأت علي شرق البحر الأبيض المتوسط بدءاً من العصر الکلاسيکي ثم العصر الهللينستي وانتهاءاً بعصر الإمبراطورية الرومانية وانعکاس تلک النظم علي صناعة السفن الحربية والتجارية وتصميم الموانئ خلال تلک الفترات المتعاقبة. ففي ظل نظام دولة المدينة في بلاد اليونان خلال العصر الکلاسيکي ظهرت عدة طرز من السفن الحربية کانت من أهمها السفن الثلاثية (الترايريم) والتي لعبت دورا محوريا في المعارک البحرية في تلک الفترة. کذلک ظهرت فکرة الفصل بين الموانيء الحربية والموانئ التجارية. ثم بانتقال البحر المتوسط إلي نظام الممالک الهللينسية، تطورت أنواع وأحجام السفن تطوراً کبيراً، کما زادت قدرات وأحجام الموانئ بشکل ملحوظ لتستوعب الزيادة الکبيرة في حجم التبادل التجاري. من ناحية أخري، نجد أنه مع توحد البحر المتوسط تحت حکم الإمبراطورية الرومانية ومع حالة السلام الروماني Pax Romana التي سادت البحر المتوسط، فقد حدث تغير ملحوظ في أنواع وأحجام السفن الحربية والتجارية التي انتشرت في أرجاء البحر المتوسط حتي نهاية العصر الإمبراطوري المبکر. وقد انعکس ذلک أيضا علي تصميم وبناء الموانئ التجارية والحربية خاصة في ظل تميز الرومان من تفوق في عمارة الموانئ. ومن ثم، فإن هذا البحث يتناول التطورات التي طرأت علي النشاط البحري في البحر المتوسط ارتباطاً بالتغيرات الساسية منذ القرن الخامس قبل الميلاد وحتي القرن الثالث الميلادي.
This paper deals with the political systems that have prevailed in the Eastern Mediterranean and their reflection on maritime naval and merchant activities. The paper starts with the Classical period then the Hellenistic period and finally the age of the Roman Empire. For each of the ears, the research examines its main features and characteristics, and the reflection of those political regimes on the developments of warships and merchant vessels. For example, under the city-state system in Classical Greece several types of warships appeared including the popular (Tireme), which played a pivotal role in the naval battles of that period. Moreover, the ​​separation between military ports and commercial ports was predominant. Then during the Hellenistic period, new types of warships appeared and there was a significant increase in the volume of trade and exchange. Finally, under the rule of the Roman Empire and with the state of Roman Pax Romana that dominated the Mediterranean, there has been a marked change in the types and sizes of warships and commercial spread across the Mediterranean until the end of the imperial era .Hence, this research deals with developments in the maritime activity in relation to the political regimes from the fifth century BC to the third century AD.
