| Abstract | ||
| The current study aimed to identify the sustainable and unsustainable consumption behaviour of rural women in the study sample, and the most important factors affecting the sustainable and unsustainable consumption of rural women in the study sample, as well as to identify the sources of information of rural women in the study sample on sustainable and unsustainable consumption, in addition to identifying the motives of sustainable and unsustainable consumption behaviour of rural women in the study sample, and proposals to reduce unsustainable consumption behaviour patterns from the point of view of rural women in the study sample. The data was collected through the questionnaire form for rural women living in the villages of (Al-Muneera - Tanida) in the New Valley Governorate, during the months of August and September 2023, and the size of the study sample was (200) respondents. Frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, alpha-Cronbach coefficient, Mann-Whitney test for the difference between the averages of two independent samples, chi-square test, and chibro coefficient were used to measure the strength of the correlation using SPSS software for statistical analysis. The results indicate that the actual range of the sustainable consumption variable ranged between a minimum of (496.2) degrees T and a maximum of (50.2) degrees of T with an arithmetic mean of 500 degrees T and a standard deviation of one degree, and it turned out that about 50.5% of the total respondents fall in the medium category of the level of sustainable consumption, while about 45.5% of the total respondents fall in the high category, while the low category represents only about 4% of the total study sample. It turned out that the most important factors affecting the level of sustainable consumption of the study sample are: the age of the respondent, the practical status of the respondent, the number of family members, the condition of the house, ownership of electrical appliances, monthly income, type of electricity, number of times shopping, duration of shopping, Economic motives for consumption, social and cultural motives for consumption, the degree of exposure of the respondent to social media. Using the "Chibro" correlation strength test, the results showed that the independent factors that proved the significance of the relationship between them and the level of sustainable consumption of the study sample all explain about 54.9% of the variation in the level of sustainable consumption of the study sample. The results indicate that the theoretical range of the unsustainable consumption variable ranged between a minimum of (20) degrees and an upper limit of (60) degrees with an arithmetic mean of 42.88 degrees and a standard deviation of 4.45 degrees, and it was found that about 75.5% of the total respondents fall into the average category of the level of unsustainable consumption, while about 14.5% of the total respondents fall into the high category, while the low category represents only about 10% of the total study sample. It was found that the most important factors affecting the level of unsustainable consumption of the study sample are : the practical status of the respondent, the number of family members, the state of the house, the ownership of electrical appliances, the monthly income, the type of gas, the number of times shopping, the duration of shopping, Economic motives for consumption, social and cultural motives for consumption, the degree of exposure of the respondent to social media. Using the Chibro Correlation Strength Test, the results showed that the independent factors that proved the significance of the relationship between them and the level of unsustainable consumption of the study sample all explain about 37.1% of the variation in the level of unsustainable consumption of the study sample. | ||
