| Abstract | ||
| Thyroid dysfunction affects 200 million people worldwide. Thyroid dysfunction has significant ramifications for body temperature regulation, metabolism, cardiac function and blood pressure, fertility, fetal neurological development, intellectual performance of children, mental health, and overall quality of life. In response to inflammatory circumstances, the adhesion molecule P-selectin is transported to the surfaces of platelets and endothelial cells. It is frequently investigated as an inflammatory disease biomarker. The aim of this study is to Evaluation of serum p-selectin level in patients with thyroid dysfunction. Patients and methods: This case-control research comprised the following: Twenty patients in Group A, who have hyperthyroidism, have elevated thyroid functions. Group B contains 20 patients with hypothyroidism that has reduced thyroid function. Group C: twenty subjects with normal thyroid functions (Euthyroid group). After taking full medical history and full clinical examination was done. Blood samples were collected for routine labs and measurement of: • TSH • FT4 • P. SELECTIN LEVEL Results: The p-selectin level was higher in hyperthyroidism group than hypothyroidism group, and control group. Conclusion, P-selectin has higher level in hyperthyroidism.
