| Abstract | ||
| There is no doubt that cotton textiles are fully qualified for medical uses, but they are a major source of bacterial growth and reproduction. Accordingly, this study concludes with the use of ethylene glycol/carboxymethyl cellulose/polyethylene glycol hydrogel/silver/copper oxide nanocomposites (EG/CMC/PEG/Ag/CuO) and then subjecting to the electron beam irradiation. This results in getting rid of bacteria and reducing their severe effects of infections and other things on the surfaces of cotton textiles. The green synthesis of nano CuO was fabricated using the material extracted from the leaves of the Moringa plant, and then cotton samples were immersed in the sample. X-ray transmission (XRD) and transmission (TEM) were used to prove the formation of copper oxide nanoparticles. The study concluded that the cotton fabrics that were treated showed impressive results against bacteria with an inhibition area of twenty and fifteen mm for E. coli and S. epidermis bacteria, respectively. EG/CMC/PEG combined with 12x10-3% nano CuO and 0.5% nano CuO at doses of 5 and 25 kGy were the most effective. This study also displayed that cotton textiles containing EG/PEG/CMC/nano CuO /Ag have a less water vapor permeability (WVP) estimated at 0.092 (6x10-3%/2.0% nano CuO) at a dose of five killoGray compared to unfilled cotton textiles (0.35). With significantly higher tensile strength under the influence of electron radiation up to twenty five killoGy, compared to unfilled and unirradiated fabrics. | ||
