| Abstract | ||
| Introduction: Hydrocephalus is a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) builds up within the fluid-containing cavities or ventricles of the brain. Aim: This study was done to analyze the clinical presentation and post procedure outcome of the patient. Materials and methods: This study is a retrospective observational study and included all the patient who underwent ventriculoperitoneal shunt in our hospital from December 2016 to December 2021. Results: Total 250 patients underwent the Ventriculoperitoneal shunt procedure who was admitted in our hospital from December 2016 to December 2021. In all the patient presented headache was the commonest symptom in adult and increase in head circumference is the commonest in infant group. The most common tumor associated with hydrocephalus is cerebellopontine angle tumor. The most common cause of shunt obstruction is mechanical shunt failure. There is no anesthesia related complication associated with our procedures. Conclusion: Ventriculoperitoneal shunt is the procedure of choice in patient of hydrocephalus cause of associated less complication rate. | ||
