| Abstract | ||
The use of musculoskeletal ultrasonography in rheumatological practice has increased rapidly over the past years, as a result of both technological developments and a need to diagnose and treat inflammatory lesions early. Musculoskeletal ultrasonography completes the clinical examination in a rapid and accurate manner and allows the very early identification of a wide range of pathological findings involving different anatomical structures in the musculoskeletal system. Physical assessment and conventional radiography, currently the most widely used first-line approaches, showed low accuracy as lesion diagnostic methods. Moreover, the radiographic changes take long time to develop, which leads to much delay in diagnosis. | ||
