| Abstract | ||
| Background: Metallo-beta-lactamases exhibit wide-spectrum hydrolysis in all beta-lactams except aztreonam, also clavulanate or tazobactam cannot repress MBLs. Among nine types of reported MBLs, bla IMP, bla NDM and bla VIM are the most prevalent genes worldwide. Objectives: This study aimed to detect gene of Carbapenem Resistant Producing Klebsiella Pneumoniae (metallo-β-lactamases) among Sudanese patients. Material and methods: It was cross-sectional study done in different hospitals in Khartoum state (Sudan) during the period from January 2023 to April 2023.It included different clinical 96 isolates collected from different hospitals in Khartoum state (Sudan), then sub cultured on MacConkey agar. The study performed in Multi drugs resistance to Klebsiella Pneumoniae. Results: The results showed that the majority of the organisms were resistance to ceftazidime (87.5%), ciprofloxacin (82.3%) and gentamicin (76%), Sulfamethoxazole (89.6%), and the majority of them were sensitive to imipenem and colistin, 26 organisms were resistance to Ceftazidime and Imipenem, then were tested to identify Metallo-beta-lactamases MBL, only 5 of them were positive, by using PCR blaimp gene detected in one organism. Conclusion: The study concluded that Metallo-beta-lactamases were only detected in five of the 26 organisms that were resistant to ceftazidime and imipenem, and the blaIMP gene was detected in one of them. | ||
