| Abstract | ||
| Background: Family caregivers of patient with schizophrenia face many problems related to caregiving as, stress, anxiety and a high level of burdens, cognitive emotion regulation can be viewed as the cognitive part of coping, which involves the management of emotional information Aim: to evaluate the effect of psychoeducational program on cognitive emotion regulation of family caregivers having patient with schizophrenia Study design: a quasi-experimental design was utilized to conduct this study. Setting: this study was conducted in the outpatient clinic in El Abbassia Mental Health Hospital. Subject: convenient sample of 50 family caregivers were chosen for conducting this study. Data collection tools: (1) Socio-demographic Questionnaire for patients with schizophrenia and their family caregivers (2) Cognitive Emotion Regulation (CER Results: the present study revealed that there were highly statistically significant differences were found between pre- post program implementation and regarding adaptive and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation among family caregivers. Conclusion: Caregivers of patient with schizophrenia had high maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation, which decreased after implementation of the management program with a highly statistical significant difference (P≤ 0.001). Recommendations: Designing a systematically continuous family psychoeducational programs in psychiatric hospitals to provide proper information and psychological support that help caregivers of patient with schizophrenia to improve their understanding, handle difficult thoughts and emotions, reduce maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation. | ||
