| Abstract | ||
| A cultural icon, Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio (1883) is considered an epitome of the posthuman turn in children’s literature. The novel included tenets of Posthumanism, even before its emergence as a theory in the field of humanities. This has been achieved through dissolving and transcending the boundaries of both the human and posthuman instead of distinguishing them as separate entities. By focusing on Pinocchio’s journey from being just a wooden toy boy to becoming a real boy, this paper aims to investigate the role of the posthuman in Collodi’s novel by asserting the agency of the child, identifying the role of both the cyborg and that of talking animals in teaching children what it means to become human. | ||
