| Abstract | ||
| Salinity stress significantly impacts crop productivity, particularly in wheat. A study was conducted on four generations: P1, P2, F1, and F2. Variabilities in heading date, plant height, and spike length were found under stress conditions. The F1 generation showed superior performance in salinity stress, with partial dominance of some traits and overdominance in most phenotypes. Inbreeding depression and heterobeltiosis were evaluated in the F2 generation, showing significant variability in hybrid performance under salt stress. The hybrids P4×P1, P2×P4, and P4×P2 performed well across different levels of salinity, with high robustness and good output considering main characteristics like heading date and grain production per plant. This study highlights the multiple interactions between genetic variation, salinity stress, and breeding strategy in wheat improvement. The results confirm the stability of traits in the F1 generation and highlight the importance of understanding the interactions between genetic variation, salinity stress, and breeding strategies in wheat production. | ||
