| Abstract | ||
| Background: Warts are small, benign growths caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) infection of the skin or mucous membrane. Only few previous studies evaluated a topical formula of combined digoxin and furosemide in the treatment of warts. Aim of work: to evaluate and verify efficacy of intralesional ionic antiviral injection combined of furosemide and digoxin in treatment of multiple resistant plantar warts. Patients and Methods: A Double-armed interventional study was performed. A total of 30 patients was recruited from the Outpatient Clinic of Dermatology, Andrology and Venereology Department, Al-Azhar University Hospital. Results: among the studied cases there were 2 (6.7%) with no response, 5 (16.7%) with partial clearance and 23 (76.7%) with complete clearance, that the mean number of sessions of studied cases was 5.17 (±0.91 SD) with range (4-6), among the studied cases there were 23 (76.7%) with pain and 7 (23.3%) with hemorrhagic bulla and pain with pain score of 6 (±2.36 SD) and 23 (100%) of completely treated cases had no recurrence. Among the mean number of warts after treatment was 0.43 (±0.86 SD) with range (0-3) and the mean size of largest wart after treatment was 0.14 (±0.34 SD) with range (0-1.5). We found a statistically significant relation between Type of clearance and age, disease duration and number of sessions. Conclusion: Based on our results, Intralesional injection of combined digoxin and furosemide is effective treatment option in multiple plantar warts. | ||
