| Abstract | ||
| Background:Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) is acurative treatment choice for many malignant and non malignant hematological diseases, relaxation technique is a type of complementary medicine that is widely practiced today. It makes sense to use non-pharmacological techniques to lessen their weariness, which reduce fatigue and relax muscles. Aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of relaxation technique on fatigue level after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Design: A quasi experimental research design was utilized. Setting: Conducted at the bone marrow unit at oncology center of Tanta university hospital. Sample: A purposive sample of 80 adult patients of both sexes were distributed equally into two groups; the study group(I) receiving relaxation techniques plus traditional care and the control group(II) receiving traditional care only . Tools: Three tools were used to collect data: structured interview questionnaire, fatigue scale and visual analog fatigue scale. Results: There was statistically significant differences between two groups was observed on day 8 and day 14 post transplant moreover the highly statistically significant difference in fatigue intensity between two groups post application relaxation technique sessions at (p= <0,0001*). Conclusion: Relaxation technique would improve fatigue level in HSCT patient. Recommendations: Continuous patients educational, technique and training about effect of Relaxation technique should be implemented regularly in stem cell transplantation unit to improve fatigue post HSCT. | ||
