| Abstract • Background: The global medical community has begun to pay attention to the effects of COVID-19 on neuropsychiatric functions. The objective of this investigation is to evaluate the long-term consequences of post-COVID-19 infection on the quality of life (QOL) of patients and their cognitive functions. Methods: The investigation was conducted in numerous hospitals in Port Said, Egypt, and involved patients who had recovered from COVID-19. Cognitive functions were evaluated using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and the WHO Quality of Life-BREF (WHO-QOL-BREF) was employed to evaluate QOL. Results: Findings revealed a significant correlation between the severity of COVID-19 and cognitive decline, with lower MoCA scores observed in patients with more severe infections.QOL scores were also adversely affected, with domains such as psychological health and social relationships showing notable deterioration. Factors like gender, socioeconomic status, and comorbidities contributed to variations in the outcomes. Conclusion: Post-COVID-19 syndrome significantly impacts cognitive functions and QOL. These results underscore the necessity of targeted interventions and follow-up care for patients who are recovering in order to reduce the long-term effects. | ||
