| Abstract | ||
| The current study examined the relationship between Early Maladaptive Schemas (EMSs), Socially Prescribed Perfectionism (SPP), and anxiety symptomatology, along with exploring the mediating role of SPP in the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and anxiety symptomatology. The sample is composed of 347 university students, whose ages range from 18-26. Participants completed three questionnaires: Young Schema Questionnaire-short form (YSQ-S3), Hewitt Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (HMPS), and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21). Results indicated significant positive correlations among EMSs, SPP, and anxiety symptomatology. The Schematic domain of impaired autonomy and performance was found to have the highest correlation with anxiety symptomatology. In contrast, the schematic domain of excessive responsibility and standards had the highest correlation with SPP. However, there was no mediation effect of SPP in the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and anxiety symptomatology. A thorough discussion and recommendations of the findings were provided. | ||
