| Abstract | ||
| Background: Environmental exposure to pollutants resulting from inadequate pharmacist practices can have negative effects on health and environment. Objective(s): The current study aimed to assess pharmacists’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices at the biggest General Hospital in Kafr Elsheikh governorate regarding eco-friendly measures. Methods: This cross-sectional study collected data from 98 hospital pharmacists using a predesigned, structured questionnaire to assess their knowledge and attitudes regarding eco-friendly pharmaceuticals. Besides, an observational checklist was designed and used to assess their eco-friendly practices. Results: Most pharmacists demonstrated poor knowledge (56.2%), neutral attitudes (82.7%), and poor practices (45.9%).. Older pharmacists and those with more experience demonstrated significantly higher knowledge score (p < 0.001). Poor knowledge significantly increased the odds of poor eco-friendly pharmacy practices (p=0.015). Conclusion: The majority of the pharmacists in Kafr El Sheikh General Hospital had insufficient knowledge and poor practices regarding eco-friendly pharmaceutical practices. Older pharmacists with more experience generally exhibited better knowledge and practices in eco-friendly pharmacy than younger pharmacists. | ||
