| Abstract | ||
| Woven fabrics from honeycomb weaves is a fabric with a single layer which exhibits three dimensional cellular shape on both sides. This type of fabrics can be used as industrial filtration fabrics, medical textiles, blankets and small carpets. This study investigates three types of honeycomb fabrics differentiate in their yarn density and counts. The Analysis of variance (one way ANOVA) is used to detect the significance difference between the three types of fabrics. The physical, mechanical, thermal comfort and color properties of this type of fabrics were studied. The findings of this study revealed that warp and weft yarn counts are the key factors which dominate and control the properties of these fabrics. Fabrics woven from coarser yarns are superior to the other fabrics in relation to their mechanical and thermal comfort, namely, air permeability and thermal insulation index. Whereas the honeycomb fabrics woven from finer yarns exhibited higher color fastness to dry, wet rubbing and higher fastness to light. | ||
