| Abstract | ||
| The research deals with the concept of "teaching in order to develop competencies and abilities as a term in the field of education development in general and university education in particular as a step towards the transformation of education policies from traditional patterns based on providing students with scientific knowledge to develop the personal competencies and skills that accompany students in their careers and transition from control Curricula and teaching methods with cognitive objectives to the curricula of capacity development and competencies. The importance of civilization and culture in the acquisition of language has been considered as a separate subject with its research methods and teaching methods. This study seeks to reach a consensus on the definition of the substance of civilization and culture.The study also provides a description of all steps to teach the subject of civilization and culture in order to develop the competencies and abilities of students. In a practical part, the study implements the above mentioned description in the courses of civilization and culture at the Department of German Language at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, in order to address the students' competencies and abilities, enhance their availability and develop other competencies. | ||
