| Abstract | ||
| Language and culture have an intricate and associating relationship. Studying a foreign language without studying the culture can only produce a “fluent speaker,” that is a person who speaks the language fluently but does not comprehend the social message and philosophical context in which they exist. Through this age of artificial intelligence, technology, globalization, immigration and mass media, it is even more necessary for EFL instructors to prepare students with high standard of intercultural communicative competence. This study investigates some challenges faced by EFL staff members at higher institute of languages (English Departments) while teaching target culture and supports importance of incorporating culture into teaching English as Foreign Language and suggests how and which constituents of culture should be taught. Those EFL staff members confirmed the interactive correlation between language and culture as language affects and reflects culture and vice-versa. They recommended the same that a language is a branch of a culture, and a culture is a branch of a language. In this study, two methods were used for collecting data: a written survey questionnaire and an interview. Thus, this study considers language as a means by which people send and receive messages with others, which in turn is responsible for cultural reinforcement. | ||
